The Whitsundays Festival of Motoring is a multi-day, family friendly event held across multiple locations of the Whitsunday.

  • Aspirations to host this unique land-based event.

    The key event stakeholders of Abell Point Marina, Whitsunday Regional Council and Tourism Whitsundays have been aspiring to host this unique land-based event. The concept of The Whitsundays Festival of Motoring was born with a prime focus on the local community to relish and participate in this exciting event. The vision of the event is to have a positive transcendence of the promising rally championship from a State to a National level rally.

  • Launch of the inaugural Whitsundays Festival of Motoring

    Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Andrew Willcox said he was excited to announce the launch of the inaugural Whitsundays Festival of Motoring.

    “This event adds a new demographic to our region opening the door to leverage exposure through the Motoring and Motor sport audience,” he said. “This year we will be hosting the Rally Whitsundays as part of the Queensland Rally Championship in May.”

    “We are hoping to attract motoring enthusiasts from around Australia to join us as part of the festival displaying their vintage, classic and hot rod vehicles to a new audience,” Mayor Willcox said.

  • Rally Whitsundays announced by QRAP

    The Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) Queensland Rally Advisory Panel has officially announced that Rally Whitsundays, the central focus of the Whitsunday Festival of Motoring, has been confirmed as the Opening Round of the 2019 P3 Solutions CAMS Queensland Rally Championship on May 4th, 2019.

  • Friday 3 May

    Friday 3 May will see the opening of the festival and activaties throughout Airlie Beach. With a car parade of the Rally Whitsundays competitors through the main street of Airlie Beach, the cars will meet just off the Esplanade on Coconut Grove for a meet and greet, before heading back to Abell Point Marina for the festival opening party. All welcome!

  • Saturday 4 May

    Saturday 4 May will host the central focus of the festival, the Rally Whitsundays which is Round one of the 2019 P3 Solutions Queensland Rally Championships. Including Rally Whitsundays, the foreshore at Bowen will come alive with a host of motoring displays. Food vans, live music and kids activities will bring the town alive, in anticipation for the final leg of the Rally Whitsundays, which will reach the foreshore area around 2pm.

  • Abell Point Marina

    Abell Point Marina is an event stakeholder of this event and will play host to the opening night event on Friday 3 May. With kids activities, live music and food for all, don’t miss the chance to come down and see the rally cars start their engines for the ceremonial start.

    The Grand View Hotel is located on the foreshore at Bowen and is proud to be a major sponsor of the Whitsunday Festival of Motoring.

    Situated on the main street of Bowen, the Grand View Hotel is walking distance from the Bowen Motoring Festival to be held on Saturday 4 May and a great place to watch the festivities whilst dishing up some fresh local produce. You can visit the website here.

    We are hopeful the event will also offer us a great opportunity to flaunt the natural wonders of our beautiful Whitsundays region on a national and gradually on an international stage. Events in Queensland generated more than $780M in economic benefit to the economy last year. We see this as a great opportunity to showcase the stunning and diverse Whitsundays landscape to many visitors that may not have had the destination on the calendar prior to the Whitsundays Festival of Motoring.”said Tash Wheeler, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Whitsundays
