The key event stakeholders of Abell Point Marina, Whitsunday Regional Council and Tourism Whitsundays have been aspiring to host this unique land-based event. The concept of The Whitsundays Festival of Motoring was born with a prime focus on the local community to relish and participate in this exciting event. The vision of the event is to have a positive transcendence of the promising rally championship from a State to a National level rally.
Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Andrew Willcox said he was excited to announce the launch of the inaugural Whitsundays Festival of Motoring.
“This event adds a new demographic to our region opening the door to leverage exposure through the Motoring and Motor sport audience,” he said. “This year we will be hosting the Rally Whitsundays as part of the Queensland Rally Championship in May.”
“We are hoping to attract motoring enthusiasts from around Australia to join us as part of the festival displaying their vintage, classic and hot rod vehicles to a new audience,” Mayor Willcox said.
The Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) Queensland Rally Advisory Panel has officially announced that Rally Whitsundays, the central focus of the Whitsunday Festival of Motoring, has been confirmed as the Opening Round of the 2019 P3 Solutions CAMS Queensland Rally Championship on May 4th, 2019.
